Was it a good idea to finish work the day before flying out? 2 days before starting Te Araroa? Possibly not in hindsight, but I survived! Every day had a lengthy to do list, and I didn’t get a whole lot of sleep…

What I didn’t anticipate was how emotional it would be finishing a job of 6 years, and saying goodbye to workmates, students, and great friends.

I’m so glad I got to spend time with all the people who matter over dinners and lunches. I got some lovely cards and gifts, and lots of warm hugs.

I never imagined I’d have so much support for this journey. There are too many people to list off, but I’m grateful for each and every one of you 😊
